Jungle Queen

Of the jungle, of a land,

I no matter how hard I try I cannot understand,

The trickle of the river,

The forest watching my every turn,

Waiting to deliver,

Me, to whatever lurks under its shadowed ferns,

Yet there she was Queen of this land,

Wondering who dares set foot upon her sand,

No farther did my feet step,

For as I neared I lacked breath,

And only upon my slow retreat,

Did my lungs start again on beat,

So I passed her guarded fountain letting her keep her timeless form,

For to survive even the most gentle of us will not shy from creating the wildest storm…
